Scabiosa is often called a pincushion flower because its straight stamens topped with anthers protrude from a dome-shaped center and look like pins in a pincushion flower.
Scabiosa is a lovely cut flower with long, straight (usually), stiff stems. It is an easy-to-grow perennial that blooms from mid-spring to late autumn.

Remarks: First year flowering. Large deep blue scabiosa flowers that have a beautiful frilly edge and strong wirey stems. Easy to grow and winter hardy. May need support netting.
